Welcome

The Uplands Development consists of two sites owned by Hampshire County Council - west of Woodhouse Lane (Woodhouse Meadows) in Hedge End and north and east of Winchester Street (Botley Fields) in Botley.

Together they will create sustainable extensions to the existing communities of Hedge End and Botley respectively and will deliver up to 980 new homes (including 35% affordable housing), a new 7 form entry secondary school (Deer Park School), a Local Centre, areas of open space and playing fields, additional allotments and a community orchard.

Woodhouse Meadows

Eastleigh Borough Council granted planning consent for the Woodhouse Lane site in September 2019. Detailed consent was granted for Deer Park School and the proposed infrastructure works, whilst 605 new homes, the Local Centre and Open Space were approved in outline.

To ensure the timely delivery of the new secondary school to meet the need within the locality and the early infrastructure works, Hampshire County Council has taken on the role of master developer for the Woodhouse Lane site. The housing development will follow these early works in line with the vision for the site. Each housing parcel will be subject to a detailed (reserved matters) planning application, which stakeholders and the local community will have an opportunity to comment on before the application is determined.

Deer Park School has now been completed and opened in September 2021 to its first intake of year 7 pupils, followed in September 2022 by a second-year intake, with intake increasing annually to capacity. For more information on Deer Park School please click here.

Botley Fields

Planning permission for Botley Fields was granted by Eastleigh Borough Council in March 2022. This outline application was for up to 375 new homes.

Highway infrastructure

The County Council, in its capacity as both the Local Highways Authority and the master developer for the Woodhouse Lane site, is currently implementing a scheme of highway works to deliver the consented Botley Bypass (in three phases), together with primary servicing arrangements to support Deer Park School and the initial housing development on the Woodhouse Meadows and improvements to the High Street in Botley.
